Being a Trans* partner

My partner is Transgender (Female to Male), and there are days I don’t feel qualified enough to be his partner.  Today is one of those days.

He & I have been together going in 6 years. He came out as Trans* a year ago and started Testosterone last Nov. I won’t say any of it has been easy, but we’ve been able to work through most of our issues.

Low days are the worst. When he is low rather than be weepy, he is aggressive. Though I know how to be around him, I get upset when the aggression is directed at me in a harsh way. Snapping,  biting sarcasm; none of that is what I want.

I love him. I will do anything for him. So I find creative ways to tell him to cool off, while giving myself space. That is what being a partner is all about…
