Education, bullying and young trans people – some resources

I was lucky enough to be invited to speak to the NASUWT LGBT conference last weekend, on the subject of ‘raising trans awareness’. I focused mostly on the problems faced by trans (broadest possible usage of that word) youth in schools, with a few suggestions on how we might make the situation better.

 

Quite a lot of people have been asking for sources/resources – I really hope you find these useful. Please read and pass it on.

1. Natacha Kennedy’s work – this is the first place to start, and utterly invaluable. Please click here for her papers and details.

 

2. Gendered Intelligence – all of their information is fantastic, but of particular relevance to educators would be their workshops, diversity training, DVD and report “Issues around bullying of trans and gender variant kids”.
